Meta has released Llama 3, an open-source large language model (LLM) that is meant to encourage new ideas in artificial intelligence (AI). This is a big step forward in the field.
Llama 3 comes in both 8B and 70B forms that are pre-trained and instruction-tuned, and it is made to work with a lot of different programs. This model is very good at picking up on subtleties in language and doing hard jobs like translating and making up dialogue².
One of the best things about Llama 3 is that it works with Meta AI, Meta’s smart assistant². People can now use Meta AI for more jobs, like writing and fixing problems², thanks to this combination. You can see for yourself how well Llama 3 works by using Meta AI².
It was trained on two custom-built 24K GPU systems with more than 15T tokens of data³. This training set is seven times bigger than the one used for Llama 2, and it has four times as much code². So, Llama 3 can handle an 8K context length, which is twice as much as Llama 2².
When it comes to speed, Llama 3 is much better than past speech animation methods². The program easily handles jobs with multiple steps, and improved post-training steps lower the number of fake refusals by a large amount, make response alignment better, and increase the variety of model answers².
With the release of Llama 3², Meta has also taken a broad view of duty. They have made changes to the Responsible Use Guide (RUG) so that it now has the most complete information on LLMs and responsible development. As part of their system-centric approach, they have made changes to their Llama Guard 2² trust and safety tools.
After everything is said and done, Meta’s Llama 3 is a big step forward in the field of AI†. Because Llama 3 can understand subtleties in English and do difficult jobs, it might change the way we deal with AI†.
