The Emerald City — The Snapdragon X Elite from Qualcomm has surprised everyone by becoming a serious competitor, surpassing Intel and AMD. According to Geekbench 6’s leaked results, this ARM-based laptop CPU is far more powerful than its x86 competitors12.
The Data Speaks for Itself
With 2,427 points in Geekbench 6’s single-core test and 14,254 points in the multi-core benchmark, the Snapdragon X Elite demonstrated its computing prowess. Now let’s see it in context:
Single-Core Performance:
Snapdragon X Elite: 2,427
Intel Core i9-13900H: 2,337
Intel Core i7-13700HX: 2,284
AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS: 2,374
Multi-Core Performance:
Snapdragon X Elite: 14,254
Intel Core i9-13900H: 10,591
Intel Core i7-13700HX: 11,636
AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS: 11,650
Based on these findings, Qualcomm’s new processor is not only competitive with but even outperforms several of Intel’s and AMD’s top hardware products. The outstanding performance1 is due in part to the Snapdragon X Elite’s 12 Oryon cores, 42 MB of cache, and max turbo frequency of 4.3 GHz.
Beyond Our Wildest Expectations
Qualcomm is taking a risk by going for the top in the business, unlike its earlier laptop processors. They want to take on the likes of Intel and Apple directly. It is worth mentioning that the Snapdragon X Elite boasts 60% greater performance than Intel’s i7-13800H, double the speed of Intel’s i7-1355U and i7-1360P, and far lower power consumption1. With peak multi-threaded performance that is 50% higher1, it is also competing with Apple’s M2.
Nevertheless, we need to proceed with caution. Although Geekbench 6 does a good job at revealing trends, actual results may vary. But one thing is clear from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite: x86 architecture is king now, and ARM architecture is in the dust. The race for dominance among laptop central processing units has recently heated up.
