May 5, 2024 – It’s a surprise that people who use Windows 11 are switching back to Windows 10². Since February 2024, Windows 11’s market share has been slowly going down. In April 2024, it fell below 26%.
Market Share Going Down
Statcounter data shows a scary picture of the well-known OS². It’s strange that this is happening since Windows 11 hasn’t even hit the middle of its life cycle².
What Caused the Shift?
According to experts, there aren’t enough interesting features to make people want to switch from the known and still-supported Windows 10². Even though Windows 11 looks better than its predecessor, some users may not like how useful it is compared to it².
Getting rid of features
Some users are upset that Microsoft decided to get rid of features like the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). Some people are coming back to Windows 10². These people used WSA to run Android apps straight on their PCs.
Making ads more visible
More and more ads are showing up on Windows 11, which makes things worse. Ad placement that is so bold is different from how Microsoft has usually worked, which is to focus on the customer.
What’s Next for Windows 11?
Later this month², Microsoft will show off new AI tools for Windows 11. There are, however, reports that these abilities may not be available on older hardware². That being said, a lot of people who don’t want to upgrade their PCs might not be interested if this is true.
Bottom Line
The last update for Windows 10 will happen in October 2025, so Microsoft needs to move quickly². They need to address user worries, give strong reasons to switch to Windows 11, and maybe even rethink how they handle features and ads². If they don’t, a lot of people will likely stick with the tried-and-true Windows 10, which would put Windows 11 in a tough spot².
