It’s almost time for Nvidia’s next big launch: the GeForce RTX 5000 series, which has been called “Project Blackwell.” The tech world can’t wait for these new GPUs, so let’s look at the reports, specs, and possible release date.
We know a few things about the Blackwell series so far.
“Project Blackwell” is the code name.
When will it come out? Usually, Nvidia releases new user graphics cards every two years, with a refresh every year. We think the Blackwell series will come out between late 2024 and early 2025.
Technical Details: According to the leaked details, the top-of-the-line GPU, the RTX 5090, will have:
Xe There are 24,576 cores.
The memory is 24GB GDDR7 L2. 128MB of cache Boost Time: 2.9GHz
Building: Blackwell
Width of the memory bus: 384 bits
Memory Speed: 1,536 GB/s
Have the potential Design of a Multi-Chip Module (MCM)
Nvidia has always used single-piece dies for its graphics cards, while AMD has switched to multiple-piece dies. There are, however, suggestions that the Blackwell series may use a Multi-Chip Module (MCM) method. Interposers connect various chips (known as chiplets) to a single base in MCM. If this plan is true, it could improve speed and flexibility.
Costs and Competitors
Prices are still unknown, but the RTX series is known for being too expensive. If the RTX 5090 costs the same as the current RTX 4090 ($1,599) when it comes out, the Blackwell family won’t be cheap.
The new RDNA 4 series GPUs from AMD will also be a major threat to Nvidia’s approach. Low- and mid-range RTX 5000 GPUs could come out before the end of the year if everything goes well.
The Way Ahead
As Nvidia works quickly to finish Project Blackwell, gamers and tech fans can’t wait for the next big step forward in GPU technology. How well does the Blackwell series live up to the hype? Time will tell.
As the release date gets closer, stay tuned for more news! 🌟
