NVIDIA unveiled Project G-Assist at Computex 2024. It is an exciting AI helper technology that is meant to make your game experience better. G-Assist can help you if you get stuck on a tough boss fight, need help making the perfect tool, or want to make the most of your game settings.

What is the process for Project G-Assist?

Question 1: “Context-Aware Answers” When a person speaks or types, G-Assist mixes that with a picture of what’s happening in the game window. This picture is sent to AI vision models that understand the situation and the app in question. The AI helper then links to a game information library, which works a lot like a wiki, and makes customized answers based on what’s going on in the game.

  1. Customizable AI Models: The language and vision models in G-Assist can be tweaked by developers to work best with certain games or apps. This tweak makes sure that the results are very accurate and useful. You can run these custom AI models in the cloud or on GeForce RTX AI PCs and tablets that are close by.

Here is a tech demo of ARK: Survival Ascended.

To show how powerful Project G-Assist is, NVIDIA worked with Studio Wildcard to use ARK: Survival Ascended, an open-world Unreal Engine 5 game full of dinosaurs, to show what it could do.

1. Help in-game

  • Quests and Items: Want to know more about stories, quests, or items? G-Assist can give you information right away. It could tell you which early-game tool is best and where to find the materials you need to make it.
  • Taming Strategies: Are you facing a scary dinosaur? G-Assist looks at what’s going on-screen and tells you whether to avoid it or how to control it better.

2. Customized Recommended Items

The skill points and crafting menu are here: G-Assist makes suggestions based on how you play. It looks at your skill points, the crafting menu, and the engrams that are currently locked and tells you what to do next to beat higher-level enemies and places.

  1. Links That Respond to Their Environment

Context-sensitive links take you to more information online, like the official ARK wiki, if you want to learn more about a certain answer.

Not Just Gaming

NVIDIA wants AI helpers to change not only how games are played but also how other creative tasks are done. Imagine picture or video editing apps that could help you based on the situation or an AI guide that could look at your multiplayer replays to help you do better in games.
