The new mother board is part of MSI’s Project Zero line and is called the Z790 Project Zero Plus. In this series, most of the ports have been moved to the back of the computer so that cables can be managed better.
The New Idea Behind CAMM2 Memory
CAMM2 is a brand-new memory standard that wants to take the place of SO-DIMMs. It combines the features of two dual-channel SO-DIMM modules into one. This makes it 64% smaller than most DDR5 SO-DIMM laptop modules⁴.
The Deal with Kingston
Together with Kingston, MSI has made the first Z790 desktop motherboard with CAMM2 memory⁴ in the world. A sample of the Kingston Fury Impact CAMM2 module is being used in MSI’s new motherboard to show how small, thin, and fast it might be when overclocked.
What’s Next for CAMM2 Memory
In terms of memory speed, the CAMM2 memory standard should be much better than SO-DIMM DDR5. The fastest CAMM2 LPDDR5X modules can handle up to 7,500 MT/s, and even faster modules in the future are likely to be made.
