May 5, 2024: According to new information, only two out of ten (40%) of Intel’s 13th and 14th generation CPUs are running well with the BIOS settings that came with them.
Problem with BIOS Default Settings
Some of the newest games have been known to crash on Intel’s 13th and 14th generation CPUs, such as the Core i9-13900K and Core i7-13700K. An “out of video memory” mistake is often present at the same time as these crashes².
What Made the Problem Happen
“Auto” or “Enforce all defaults” settings on the motherboard seem to be the cause of the problem. These settings might not be using the right values for the CPU². Some signs are game crashes, program failures, Windows running slowly at random, and mistakes saying “Out of video memory”².
The Answer
This problem can be fixed by setting up the computer back to its original settings. To do this, you need to restore the BIOS to its original settings, disable multicore enhancement, turn on XMP, and enter the settings from the datasheet².
Intel’s Answer
Intel is aware of the problem and is working with its partners to look into the problems that have been reported². The company has also said that the instability problems are the fault of the processor and system makers.
Bottom Line
Even though Intel’s 13th and 14th generation CPUs have great speed, the problems with the BIOS default settings are a big worry. Intel needs to work closely with motherboard makers to make sure that their CPUs can run smoothly with the settings that come with them.
