A strange thing has happened: the price of the MSI Claw portable game PC has gone down a lot. This comes after claims that a recent BIOS and graphics update made the computer run faster.
When it first came out, the MSI Claw, which is powered by Intel Core Ultra, had a high price tag that made it hard to sell compared to tablets like the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally². But the device is more attractive now that its price has gone down, especially in the UK market.
Currys in the UK has cut the price of the best Intel Core Ultra 7 model with 1TB of storage by £200, and it is now only £599.00. Even though the price went down, the ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme, which has better speed, is still cheaper at Currys, where it costs £549 at full price right now.
But in the U.S., you can get it at Newegg for $649 instead of the normal $700. The savings aren’t as big there. We still don’t know if prices will keep going down at other stores
The price drop comes at a time when the MSI Claw is running faster thanks to new BIOS and graphics drivers. Frame rates are going up by as much as 43.5% in games like Hogwarts Legacy, Forza Horizon 5, and F1:23. Still, the speed gains may be different depending on how the handheld is set up.
Even though the price has gone down and the performance has gotten better, users and reviewers have had different feelings about the MSI Claw. Some people don’t like it because they think the Steam Deck OLED or the ROG Ally are better. MSI is still working to make the device better, though, so it’s still worth looking at if you want to try pocket games.
In conclusion, the MSI Claw’s big price drop and speed gains are big changes for the device. It will be interesting to see how the Claw does in the crowded market for small game PCs as MSI keeps making it better.
